Wild rice consist of long, darkbrown seeds of a grass that grows in shallow water, especially in North America. Despite having the name “rice”, wild rice may not be close to traditional rice, which is smaller, has lesser nutrients, and different color. You can use wild rice as a substitute for common rice, but the nutty taste is especially good with autumnal tastes, like pumpkin or wild. Wild rice is rich in protein and nutritional fibre low in gluten and fat. Besides that, it is also an excellent source of essential minerals, among which are manganese, magnesium and phosphorus.
