Maple syrup is thickened juice of the maple tree, it is thickened through different processes. There is about 40 liters of juice needed for 1 liter of maple syrup. It originates from a specific type of maple tree that is mainly from Canada. The syrup has a lightly caramel-like taste that arises during its 'thickening' process. This natural sweetener is not refined and not chemically processed. With ahorn syrup, you have an A, B and C grade. Ahorn syrup contains little fructose, but a lot of sucrose (glucose-fructose). This can create fluctuations in your blood sugar and an increased insulin delivery.A good choice for low-calorie, low-carb, and low glycemic index diets. As compared to honey, maple syrup has higher vitamin B1 and B2 and more calcium, zinc, magnesium and potassium.Like with almost all sweeteners applies the following: use it modestly.
